Men's
Challenges
Through a combination of nature and nurture, gender is one of the factors that influences the internal and external struggles that we face and how we tend to navigate those struggles. Dr. Figley’s work with men is informed by his more than a quarter-century of counseling them individually and in couples’ therapy with their wives. It is informed also by his ten years of teaching in The Reinstatement Project: A 10-month mentoring program, where once-isolated men, in groups of 10-12, learn to take off their masks and be authentic, become part of a community of brothers, and face and find healing for attachment wounds that have held them back from open-hearted relationships.
Our practice is blessed with multiple clinicians who are excellent in their work with men. In addition to Dr. Figley, David Reed is widely sought out as a counselor for men. Jason Owenby with his years of pastoral experience and plain-spoken approach, is very adept at working with men.
