Meet Jason

I joined Figley Counseling & Associates in January of 2023 while earning my master’s degree in counseling. Driven by a strong desire to better understand and help those around me, I added this degree to my Master of Divinity from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.

Having been married for 27 years, with three children, I am able to bring a wealth of life experiences and understanding into the counseling room when it comes to relationships, marriage, raising children, and various other life issues. While I enjoy counseling in general, I find that I am most passionate about working with teenagers, young men, and married couples. This passion has been fueled and strengthened over the years as I have had the opportunity to work with various individuals and couples through the local church.

More About Jason Owenby, MA, RMHCI

Having served for over half a decade as a student minister, I realize that many teens feel overlooked, misunderstood, and uncertain about how to navigate this unusual time between childhood and adulthood. I firmly believe that God has gifted me with a unique ability to understand, communicate, and work
alongside teenagers.

My years of ministry have also allowed me the opportunity to mentor and counsel young men. I enjoy helping these young men as they transition into adulthood, helping them develop understanding as well as the skills needed to cope with life pressures, face disappointments, and navigate relationship issues.

In addition to serving as a student minister, for the past twenty years I have had the privilege of serving as a pastor. As a pastor and now as a counselor, I have had the opportunity to spend countless hours providing input into the lives of engaged and married couples. I have worked with couples dealing with a wide variety of issues, including but not limited to blended families, extramarital affairs, as well as parenting, intimacy, financial, and communication issues.

It should be noted that while my faith is a significant part of who I am, I understand that not all my clients share my belief system. Despite any differences in worldview, I consider it a privilege to work with all my clients and firmly believe in their autonomy. With this understanding, I strive to create a space without judgment, where I partner with my clients to achieve their personal goals for growth. My fee per 50–60-minute session is $125.
